Last weekend, students attended Buckmore Park to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition. The expedition consisted of three days of walking for at least seven hours, with self-navigation, carrying all of their necessities, including their tent, sleeping bags, cooking stoves and so on. When students returned to camp, they were required to cook their own food, put up their tents, and plan their walking routes for the coming days.
The students who attended showed resilience, determination, teamwork and great leadership skills throughout the Expedition. Miss Harris and Mr Kenning were really proud of how the students handled themselves, and as such, the students passed their expedition with flying colours.
There will be a celebration event in December, where students will receive their certificates to commemorate their efforts in all four DofE sections: volunteering, physical, skills and expedition. The celebration event will also include those students who attended their Bronze expedition in the summer term, so if you are a parent of a student in Year 10 who attended this, please check your emails for more details from Miss Harris.
Students in Year 9 will get the opportunity in the coming weeks to sign up for their Bronze Award.
