  • Head of Year & English Specialist (£5K Golden Hello)

    Salary STPC MPS/UPS + TLR2a (£8,279) & £5k Golden Hello

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a Head of Year for Key Stage 3 and 4, and as well as joining the English Department as an English Specialist, to start from January-April 2025.

    You will have excellent subject knowledge and be confident that students in your care will make exceptional progress. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a team which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for every student.

    We have an ambitious vision for our school driven by our excellent team to ensure our students experience as much Outstanding and Good practice as possible. In line with this, we are looking for a candidate who can regularly deliver lessons to these standards.

    This is a full time, permanent role, paid based on the STPC Main/Upper Teachers Pay Range, dependant on experience, as well as a TLR2a (£8,279) and a Golden Hello payment as outlined below:

    The school is offering a recruitment incentive of £5,000. This is split into the following payments - £2,500 subject to the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, and a further £2,500 to be paid in as a retention incentive. This is subject to the successful candidate remaining at the school for at least that next year.

  • Director of Learning English

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our English Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Director of Learning English, to start from April 2025.

    The successful candidate will lead the English Department, driving high standards of teaching and learning, developing a strategic vision for English, and ensuring students reach their full academic and personal potential. This role also involves mentoring staff, supporting engaging and inclusive lessons, and collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to contribute to whole-school improvement.

    This is a full time, permanent role, paid based on the STPC Leadership Pay Range points 6-10 (£56,316 - £62,202), dependant on experience.

    The Abbey School is a mixed secondary school with a thriving population of over 1100 students.
