Department Vision
Within the ICT curriculum, students need to learn about the principles and application of ICT and computing together with digital literacy. Organisations and universities are looking for school leavers who are problem solvers and innovators. A high-quality ICT education equips pupils with the right skills to progress onto further and higher education, as well as supporting their future careers.
ICT equips pupils to apply information technology to create products and solutions and with this education, this also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
Students study key ICT skills during their three-year KS4 course, engaging in topics from Website deign to data-base creation as well as developing a detailed understanding of some the current issues and debates in the modern world of ICT.
In KS5 students are able to extend their learning in these areas, developing more complex skills in website creation and database development as well showing a comprehensive understanding of cyber-security and how to protect individuals and businesses from increasing sophisticated criminal attacks.
